John considers his options
I’m not a fan of knowing more than I should, and as I sit here right now, I know far more than I should – far more than I could report last night.
Cassie was married to Mick Righteous.
I know I’d had a few beers, but I’m sure that’s what she said.
Cassie was married to Mick Righteous.
She didn’t seem particularly broken up about not being with him anymore.
But did she seem like someone who could commit murder?
Bernie’s always telling me that I have no “Spidey sense,” that common details to problems confound me. In fact, he said as much in the review I have yet to respond to. “Lacks instincts and, at times, purpose in pursuing a story.”
(I’m sorry, how many stories have I worked on with him to date? That would be one, but I digress.)
If ever there was a time to have Spidey sense, it would be now.
It can’t be that big a coincidence … can it? That she was just talking about him, to me of all people, in the middle of the bar, last night?
Did she know he was still in town? And what was he doing here in the first place?
The larger question, of course, is whether the two incidents – Mick’s untimely demise, and the random body parts strewn throughout town – are connected? Is there an official line from the authorities at this point?
Heavenly to have scooped Ms. Susan on the Mick story, though, an actual national story.
Off to see Cassie. I hope.
